Zen In The Wild
May 21, 2026 - May 25, 2026

Are you ready for an adventure and the experience of a lifetime?
Kristi Tate & Joëlle Sleebos will host a safari yoga retreat (4 nights) at Sashwa in the Greater Kruger in South Africa. What better setting to reconnect with yourself, connect with like-minded nature & yoga lovers and get a chance to be part and observe the most magnificent animals on earth.
Accommodation:
Sashwa River of Stars takes its name from the majestic river we overlook. As the sunlight sparkles and shimmers on the flowing water, it mirrors the Milky Way’s ethereal beauty visible in the night sky—a phenomenon often referred to as the River of Stars. Nestled in a pristine wilderness oasis, our lodge features exquisitely crafted suites, each designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings and offering opportunities to observe birdlife in the gardens and a diverse array of wildlife gathering at the water’s edge.
True to its name, the beautiful Olifants River (meaning “Elephant’s River”) frequently hosts large herds of elephants enjoying refreshing dips in its cool, constantly flowing waters. As night descends, let the symphony of hippos grunting and lions roaring serenade you to sleep—an unforgettable African experience that will captivate your heart forever.
All rooms are very comfortable and equipped with all you need to relax, rest and experience that deep sense of tranquility.
Yoga:
We will practice yoga in the morning (Vinyasa) and the evening (Yin) and you have the privilege to learn from two different teacher as both Kristi and Joëlle will be teaching the yoga classes. This is a all-level retreat – Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Practitioners are welcome.
Game:
Embark on dawn or dusk safari drives across the private game reserve, guided by skilled wilderness experts who share their wisdom, insights and interpretations with us as we explore the land and encounter the wildlife that we share a home with. We embrace a culture of deep awareness and respect towards the wildlife and the wilderness we move through. Expect moments of silence and wonder, appreciating both small creatures and larger wildlife.
While encounters with “The Big 5” are possible, our focus is on meaningful connections with all wildlife. Sashwa embraces the local Shangaan saying, “a leopard chooses to reveal itself to us,” reflecting our respect for nature’s mysteries. The reserve, part of the Greater Kruger Biosphere, allows wildlife to roam freely across over 2 million hectares.
