Journey to Wellness: The Mind-Skin Connection
10 am-12 pm July 18, 2026
A 2-hour workshop led by Dr Gigi Rai, hosted in collaboration with Kim @ The Skin Connection.
The workshop is about four simple skills that support health and wellbeing:
- Paying attention to your mind.
- Using a journal.
- Dealing with emotions.
- Building everyday self-awareness.
These skills matter because stress affects inflammation and skin aging, mindfulness practices like breathing and body awareness can help regulate stress, and practical self-care planning helps participants leave with something actionable for both inner wellness and healthier skin.
Workshop purpose
This workshop explores the connection between inner wellness and skin health in a practical, grounded way. It positions skincare not only as an outer ritual, but as something influenced by stress, rest, emotional balance, reflection, and daily self-awareness.
Core message
The workshop links wellness and skincare in a credible, practical way:
- Stress affects inflammation and skin aging.
- Mindfulness practices such as breathing and body awareness can help regulate stress.
- Journaling supports reflection, clarity, and self-understanding.
- Emotional awareness supports healthier responses instead of overwhelm.
- Practical self-care planning helps participants leave with something realistic and actionable.
2-hour workshop structure
0:00–0:15 — Welcome and the mind-skin connection
Introduce the workshop as a guided exploration of how emotional wellbeing, stress, and self-awareness shape both internal health and visible skin health. Set the tone by naming the four pillars and explaining that the session is reflective, practical, and supportive.
0:15–0:35 — Pillar 1: Paying attention to your mind
Focus on noticing thoughts, mental habits, and stress patterns before they escalate. Include a short breathing or grounding exercise and a body-awareness practice to help participants experience how attention and regulation can create calm.
Suggested prompt: “What has been occupying my mind lately, and how does it affect my energy, body, and skin?”
0:35–1:00 — Pillar 2: Using a journal
Guide participants through reflective journaling as a simple tool for insight and release. Emphasize that journaling can help identify triggers, patterns, needs, and supportive habits.
Suggested prompts:
- “What has my skin been trying to tell me lately?”
- “When do I feel most depleted?”
- “What helps me feel calm, restored, and more like myself?”
1:00–1:25 — Pillar 3: Dealing with emotions
Help participants notice, name, and work with emotions without shame or avoidance. This part of the workshop should normalize emotional experience while encouraging practical regulation skills.
Suggested reflection: “What emotion have I been carrying that needs more acknowledgement, space, or care?”
1:25–1:45 — Pillar 4: Building everyday self-awareness
Move from reflection to pattern recognition. Encourage participants to notice daily cues in sleep, stress, nourishment, body tension, and skin changes. This is also where the skincare connection can be reinforced most clearly by inviting participants to consider how self-awareness improves the consistency and intention behind their daily skin rituals.
Suggested reflection: “What do I notice in my body, mood, and skin when I am well — and what do I notice when I am not?”
1:45–2:00 — Personal self-care plan and close
Close with a practical action plan so the workshop ends with momentum rather than inspiration alone. Invite each participant to choose one small next step in each of the four pillar areas.
Suggested take-home plan:
- One mind practice, such as pausing or breathing.
- One journaling habit.
- One emotional support tool.
- One self-awareness check-in.
- One skin-supportive self-care action.
